Shimla, December 10, 2022
The suspense over the new chief minister of Himachal Pradesh is over as the Congress High Command has announced the name of Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu for the post, said sources.
The Congress had won the state Assembly election with 40 of the 68 seats, the counting of which took place on December 8.
Nadaun MLA Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu reportedly had the support of a majority of Congress MLAs. He was made the chairman of the Congress Campaign Committee for the Assembly elections.
This is for the second time that Hamirpur district has got a Chief Minister. Former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal had lost the elections in 2017 from the Sujanpur seat.
